The Museum actively participates in numerous key partnerships, including with six of the nation's leading science museums, seven children's museums, and the Exploratorium in San Francisco.
INNOVATION STUDIOS: ILLUMINATING!
Innovation Studios are located off the Museum’s central corridor. These five glass-walled studios – which surround Innovation Gallery – are called “Inventor,” “Doodler,” “Designer,” “Imaginer,” and “Explorer.” They are 6,000 square feet of flexible, engaging learning spaces dedicated to supporting lifelong learning for families, educators and adults. The environmental design of each studio provides opportunities for nurturing imagination, curiosity and creativity.
For the months of November, December and January, the main theme for the Innovation Studios will be illumination, which ties directly to the “urban lantern” architectural feature of the new Museum. Every studio will feature some activities and programs wrapped around this theme. January will introduce “frost” and subsequent months will feature other themes such as “patterns,” “rhythms,” “engineering,” “wind and air” and more. In addition to highlighting the various themes, the studios will also host occasional studio talks, storytelling sessions, guest artists and science experts. For the first six months, all studios will be an “open house” format for the public, meaning that studio activities may be enjoyed with the price of exhibit admission.
Innovation Studios experiences, activities and investigations are targeted at guests age 9 and older. Children under the age of 8 are encouraged to enjoy the Fort Worth Children’s Museum, though they may participate in any Innovation Studios activity with a parent or caregiver. Please be aware that the materials and tools used in each studio may have small parts and sharp edges, and are not suitable for young visitors. Anyone under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
